Something is very wrong with wordpress…..

    Something very weird is going on with wordpress.com and I can’t seem to find answers. I’m not the only one having the issues (all friends using wordpress I know) and the issues include:

    -My embedded music files have suddenly stopped working.
    -When I go to edit or write new posts, my text is white on a white background, making it invisible.
    -The little pull down menus at the top of the screen don’t work on certain browsers (this may be me….)

    I really need support here. If this goes on another week or so I am gonna have to move my blog. I need to update but I can’t! Please someone tell me what’s happening.

    What browsers have you tried? If you can check in Firefox, Internet Explorer 8 and Opera that would be perfect.

    I’ve tried Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. I’m on OSX, so I don’t really use IE, though I guess I could. Now it’s letting me type in black, but after I update or publish it goes back white. Also noticed that when I go this page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/ the embedded audio player is gone as well.

    Could it be a odd internet connection. I’ve had weird issues at work before and I haven’t accessed my blog from home yet. Everyone at my work is having the same issues though and there are PC users here as well.

    It’s not you, and I doubt it’s your connection. All my audio is gone as well.

    Thank goodness I am not going crazy! I am having the same issues. I am on internet explorer 8. Drop down boxes not working, and my text is white in the text box but will show up black in preview mode. I have tried deleting cookies and temp files. Also tried from another workstation…same problems. I, like you, have some promised updates that need to be made. Any help is appreciated!

    I also have the same issues, but it is only on one network. This network is behind a SonicWall firewall device, when I use WordPress from home, or another network, things work fine. I have done the same as others trying to diagnose the problem.

    There is another thread on this problem, at least two of us there had SonicWall. I had the IT people turn it off, and WP worked normally for a while, but the symptoms returned in a short time. I will also add that I have the same problem on Limewire’s Music Store (not the P2P site!), and a few news outlets.

    nope you are all correct, all browsers for me are pooched…this is their f-up. Better fix this folks :)

    I tested the audio player on the support page and it is working for me right now:

    @colejennette I looked for audio files in your media library and I couldn’t find any. Where are the audio files you are having trouble with saved? I also looked at your home page and I only see iTunes links and no embedded audio players. Are you still seeing this problem? Can you point me to a very specific example?

    For the text being white in the editor, you should try clearing browser cache and cookies as a first troubleshooting step:

    I tested the Screen Options pull down menu on the main dashboard in my test blog, and it’s working for me in Chrome 6, Firefox 3.6.8, and Safari 4.0.5. In which browsers are the pull down menus not working for you?

    Aha, I think SonicWall is the key. I think they are blocking some legitimate WordPress.com files that make the blogs work properly.

    Is everyone having these problems using SonicWall? If so, please contact them and ask them for help making sure *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com are not blocked by them. We have put in similar requests ourselves.

    yep, I’m at home and it looks like things are working right. Was there an update that made this happen? So weird. I guess I’ll be doing all my blogging at home now. Thanks for the help everyone.

    That is what it was…there was some advertising code embedded and tagged and our content filter picked it up.
    Works great now.

    My IT guy did this right away and wordpress appears back to normal I can type a new post and the format of the blog is correct again. Thanks for your help, @happiness engineer. You made me happy indeed.

    Whiteglossy, just try on another internet connection to see if it’s specific to where your getting online.

    SonicWall CFT Support team reported back that they have reclassified (unblocked) s1.wp.com and s2.wp.com. They say we should see the results in 1 to 3 days.

    I’ll put in a request for them to unblock ALL of wp.com and wordpress.com.

    However, if we can’t get them to do that, what other specific URLs need to be unblocked for WordPress to technically function correctly?
