Something is wrong with ‘The Journalist’ theme
-
I have the theme ‘The Journalist’ activated on my blog, but it looks like the CSS file got deleted!
See it here.
-
I have the same theme but it is not just my theme that has disappeared but the entire wordpress login screen. The only thing that looks right is the visual editor. Everything else has pretty much vanished.

Hey there,
codemonkeys: That is how the Journalist looks like or maybe it’s just something on your end. I’m seeing the theme on all you examples as shown on this screenshot: http://wordpress.com/blog/2007/11/22/theme-thursday-the-journalist/
Can you confirm whether or not that’s what you’re seeing?
@ sixteenfeet: Again your Journalists looks fine to me. Could you specify a bit more what you mean by vanished?
–
Everything looks fine for me on my Dashboard using Vista and Firefox 2. Have you tried using a different browser?
-
carocat, I just viewed my site on a PC and it looks fine. Evidently I have done something on my Mac that has caused the problem. I have no idea what. The only thing I did was click the refresh button this morning to get some content to load on the log in page and no only does my site look like your screen shot but also all the wordpress pages I view.
-
Ah, it was a caching problem. Sixteenfeet, if you’re using Firefox, press
Ctrl+F5, or for IE I think it’sShift+F5. -
Are you using Safari by any chance? There are many known issues with Safari.
If it’s possible downloading Firefox that migh improve it.
-
Also, I have looked on my Mac using both Firefox and Safari and it looks messed up on both browsers on the Mac, again leading me to believe I have somehow done something wrong in the browser.
-
All I can recommend is trying to clear the cache, cookies, closing the browser and maybe rebooting the Mac.
I’m on a Vista PC, so I can’t help you, but I’m sure a Mac expert will be along at some point.
Good Luck. :)

carocat, I just tried using the Ctrl+f5 and nothing changed. Is there a particular screen I should be doing this in?
-
This should help you: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/06/force-refresh/
And it should work on any screen.
Clearing the cache in Firefox 2 is Tools -> Options -> Advanced.
Clearing cookies is Tools -> Options -> Security. -
I’m still coming up weird after doing all that stuff. It is strange that it is only affecting wordpress. Other internet sites look okay. I checked out a blog hosted by someone other than wordpress and it looks okay too. I really appreciate all the help. thanks.
-
No worries.
Someone with a Mac should be along at some point and maybe they can offer some insides. Sorry I couldn’t help any more.

I decided to try uninstalling my firefox browser and reloading it from scratch. I did this and it had no effect on the way I am seeing wordpress pages. All wordpress pages are coming up with no theme and that includes the wordpress login in page. The only pages that look right in my browser are the pages inside my editor. The write page, dashboard, et al. look fine but going to the site renders a view that has what appears to be no CSS applied to anything. Like I said earlier, I used a pc laptop and everything looks normal. I have no idea what I have done on my Mac. It just happened as I was browsing through some of the terms of service and then the log in page. As a ps. no avatars show up on this page either. All the blanks where your avatar should be are just that, blank.

Check in your preferences in Safari under the security tab and make sure “enable plug-ins, java and javascript are all selected.
Next, load your main page. When it indicates it is done, go to your window menu and click on “activity” which will bring up a running list of all the files loaded. Go down to the bottom and scroll back up and look for any lines in red which indicate errors when loading the page.
-
In Firefox also go to preferences > content and make sure enable java and enable javascript are both checked.
-
By the way, I’m on Mac and your site looks fine in both Safari 3.0.4 and FF 2.0.0.11 from my machine.
Two other suggestions: Go to your disk utility (in the utilities folder) and select “repair permissions.” This may take a while depending on how many files are on your hard drive and how fast your processor. After that is done, shut your computer down (don’t reboot) and let it sit for about five minutes and then start it up again and see if things improve.

There is a huge laundry list of errors associated with my wordpress pages. Here is a sample.
Error: dp is not defined
Source File: http://alittlenews.wordpress.com/
Line: 450
The offending line of code is:- Log out
Here is another error: Error: jQuery is not defined
Source File: http://alittlenews.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Line: 22The offending line of code is: jQuery( function($) {
I am no CSS guy so this is all pretty muddy to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
