Something Really Wrong With my Navigation Bar
-
I signed up for an account at WP.org and made a blog there (http://timeandagainblog.com). I don’t know why this blog also shows up in my dashboard here at WP.com.
I’m not being able to use buttons like My Comments or the Tag Surfer or Add to Blogroll from the navigation bar anymore. I get an error message saying “Page Not Found”. Then I’m forced to sign into my WP.org account and these tabs still don’t work (of course).
Why is my blog at WP.org interfering with my navigation bar at WP.com? I feel really upset.

First off, blogs that are hosted on wordpress.com are the only blogs that show the admin bar. You might have the blog you are mentioning in the admin bar if you installed the wp.com stats plugin. That blog you are referring to is hosted on another host, so there is no admin bar!

Yes, I did install the stats plug in.
That blog you are referring to is hosted on another host, so there is no admin bar!
I do have an admin bar here and that is what I meant. Also, I installed another plug in for getting a WP.com-like admin bar in my self hosted blog. Anyway, that’s besides the point.
What I wanted to know is why are my navigation bar tools not working here? Is there anything that can be done?

Check your profile here at wp.com and make sure you have your main wordpress.com blog as your “primary blog”. As well, when it gives you 404 errors, what are the URL’s that it is not finding?

Trent,
URLs—I clicked on “My Comments”, “Tag Surfer” and “Add to Blogroll”. None of them worked. I do have my WP.com blog listed as my primary blog…
For eg- when I click on “My Comments”, the page gets re-directed to wp-admin page of my WP.org blog and it says “Cannot load my-comments”.

I see what you are meaning ruhi! I am just wondering why it would take you to your self-hosted blog! I have those links for my comments, tag surfer, etc. showing up as URL’s built off my “primary” blog. Maybe go to the global dashboard and see what your primary blog URL is:
http://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/profile.php
When you hover over the links, in the bottom right of the browser does it show what they are?

Trent,
It shows my WP.com blog as my primary blog. When I hover over those links, they point towards my self-hosted blog. Very weird.

That is really strange isn’t it! Not sure why that is like that. Something for staff I guess!

I guess I’ll have to wait till Monday then!
Anyway, thanks so much for trying to help me out. I appreciate it. =)

Did you clear your browser cache? It should bring you to the primary blog you’ve set in your WordPress profile.
