Something simple

  I have seen WordPress blogs that are very simple, yet I cannot seem to make mine in such a way. I want it very simple. Image up top, everything centred, no columns, just text with some images in the middle breaking up the text, and none of that stuff at the bottom which says ‘latest posts’, ‘categories’, ‘monthly’, etc. It can’t be that hard surely?! Can anyone help, as I can’t see anything in the settings for this kind of thing. Many thanks.
