Sonic Foundry Mediasite Platform
-
Hello-
Our School, New York Law School (www.nyls.edu) recently adopted WordPress for it’s public website. I work in the Media Services department of the school and we’ve recently noticed the need to embed our existing video content (events, etc.) into the wordpress pages. Here is an example link:
http://nyls.mediasite.com/mediasite/Play/2dc162637f9c4019bcaa4d1d6424b0b71d?useHTML5=trueThe content is HTML5 but is not displaying properly as their is no WordPress API for this type of content. Can you help me to understand the best method of embedding/displaying this type of media content on WordPress pages?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The video embeds that WordPress.com supports for all of our blogs – no upgrade required are found here.

why does my iFrame fail to embed?
<iframe src="http://nyls.mediasite.com/mediasite/Play/2dc162637f9c4019bcaa4d1d6424b0b71d?useHTML5=true" frameborder="0" width="584" scrolling="no" height="400" style="position:relative; "></iframe> -

If you’re planning on hosting your WordPress site yourself you can give our WordPress Mediasite Plugin a try: https://github.com/SonicFoundry/Mediasite-Plugins/tree/master/Wordpress. It’s still a work in progress (if you have feedback feel free to pass it on!), but, it will allow you to embed presentations into your site.
As far as I know, if WordPress is hosting your site then you don’t have the flexibility of adding plug-ins (and are stuck with the iframe markup being removed as raincoaster mentioned).

@mdemeo – nyls.edu is not hosted on WordPress.com, so there wouldn’t be any point in setting up a test site here. We run on different platforms. Please read this for clarity: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Self-hosted WordPress installs are supported over at http://wordpress.org/support/

Thanks all. Our school does have it’s own instance which will soon migrate to a hosted provider. Are there any users currently working with the ek0nomik’s api that can provide some links to see it in action?

@mdemeo – I’m actually a developer at Sonic Foundry and right now the plugin has only been used internally. It’s currently in the review queue over on wordpress.org to become an official WordPress plugin.
While sonicfoundry.com isn’t powered by WordPress, the plugin we use in that world is very similar and is a good example of what it can achieve. As an example, one of our latest webcasts shows how it looks when embedded.

Here’s an easy workaround for hosting <iframe> embeds (or any other non-supported code) on a WordPress.com blog using DropBox:
http://bamcat.com/2013/09/12/how-to-host-an-html-file-on-dropbox/
If you copy the source code for one of your posts you can even edit the HTML file with the embed to match your site quite nicely.

@mdemeo – Here is an example of one your Mediasite embeds wrapped in my WordPress.com template and saved as an .html file on DropBox:

It’s hosted via DropBox but blends in nicely to your site (menu buttons continue to work, etc. if you wrap it in your template). It’s not the best option but is a workaround if you need to embed <iframe> or other non-supported code on a WordPress.com blog.
