Sonific is gone, now what?
-
I would like to put music in my side bar. I tried using the info here: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/12/24/how-do-i-get-music-on-my-blog/ but that only works in blogs. any suggestions? WordPress, why can we not put that neat little player you created in the side bar? Am I missing something?
thanks,
Matt -

You can use Last.fm code in a text widget, too, or Odeo as well.

This is fine, but it will not play automatically like sonific as soon as you open the blog. The reader need to press play which is not really convenient. I suggest wordpress think of other options and sources like sonfic.

It’s completely convenient for readers who don’t want to be ambushed by music when they visit a blog.

Ambushed…
many web and blogs sites have autoplay music on them.
Thats no reason to not ask wordpress.com for the option to have a player with autoplay. -
Well, I am the site owner and I think I am the one who should decide. If they don’t want to listen to the music then they can pause it or even leave the site.

If you want to decide, you need to make your own application and get it approved by WordPress.
After all, surveys indicate that most people who are surfing blogs are already playing music. Having Coldplay automatically layer over Nine Inch Nails does not make people happy.
