Sorry but is already mapped to a WordPress.com blog.

    Hello anyone,

I cannot map my domain (owned by me) to my new blog site as it is apparently still mapped to an old and now deleted blog site. I don’t have any facility in my account settings to cancel this old mapping. What do i do next please?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It looks like you’re missing the last step only, which is to set the mapped domain as the primary.

You should be able to do that using the following steps:

    1. Go to https://wordpress.com/domains/manage and select your site
    2. Click on the domain
    3. Click the “Make Primary” button (near the top right)

If you have any trouble at all, let me know which step you’re getting stuck on.

i know i’m hijacking your thread. but its pretty similar. i have a domain that was purchased on wordpress.com and i mapped it to my .org site. now i want to keep it as my .com. so i did what you suggested above which is make it my primary. but it is still pointing me to the wordpress.org site. do you have any suggestions please.

Hi millersadventure, no problem! I can help you here.

In order for a domain mapping to work at WordPress.com, the name servers do need to be set to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM, NS2.WORDPRESS.COM, and NS3.WORDPRESS.COM. If you have only just changed that, then it’s likely you will just need to wait for that change to go through.

If you need further help checking in on it, let me know what domain you’re trying to map and which WordPress.com blog you’re trying to map it to and I will take a closer look.

    Hello designsimply

thanks for response. Your suggestion is not the solution unfortunately. I am simply not able to get as far as making this domain the primary domain, but rather it won’t accept it as a mapped domain at all. Every time i try to set up my domain as a mapped domain that i own, it simply tells me that “Sorry but [my domain name] is already mapped to a WordPress.com blog.”

This is referring to my old blog site (which is not deleted i now realised, it is just hidden). The crux of the problem therefore is that i don’t have any way of breaking the mapped domain with the old blog site. this is what i need WordPress to sort out for me. How do i get in touch with someone who can do that?
