I imported a recommended theme that is support to overwrite my content, but it does not do it. Sorry, this is very disappointing to me: 1. the free theme does not look like it is. 2. Then I choose a recommended theme, but it does not look like the demo either or it does not overwrite my previous theme. 3. Well, I may need to give up after spending so much time. Please, is there any tutorial to solve all these issues in a FREE PLAN? Thank you!

Please, is CANAPE theme updated? Will it run properly if I install it now?
It is really a good match for my goals, since it has these pictures with some info on them when I hover over them. Also, when I click them, it leads me to a Ince website with a map, etc. Plus it is the best free theme!

How can I get the content on the demo in the free theme ‘Canape’? I am in a free plan, so I selected the free theme ‘Canape’ with nice pictures + text on hover.

Please note that this will remove any posts, pages, and other customizations you’ve already added to your site, so make sure to save anything separately (in a text editor or word processor) that you want to reuse.

@girbau7 I can see the site is currently set to Arbutus. Staff can add the Canape info for you if you want to switch back to that theme.
Would you like us to delete everything (this can be destructive, be careful) so you have a clean slate, or would you like us to preserve existing content and add Canape’s demo content as well?

Please, if I switch to another Theme (including Full Site Editing), will I keep all these cool pages from Canape Theme as they are now? Please, if so, any recommendation of a particular Theme to be updated at the highest level for FREE?

I am afraid I will need to change the theme, since it seems impossible to have all the contents from the Canape Theme.

Hi there,
For the most part, changing your theme is a lot like changing the clothing on a mannequin. Your content (pages, blog posts, uploaded media) don’t go anywhere or change that much… they just assume the style of the new theme
However, this does mean that the style (design) of your current theme will not go along for the ride. It would likely be possible to create something similar using the site editing tools, but it would require some setup.
However, this need not be as difficult as it sounds. One thing I think will help is if you attend our upcoming webinar on Compelling homepages. In that webinar we show how to create a custom homepage layout block-by-block so you can get a feel for how the tools work and see that it’s not as hard as it seems at first.

So this is a columns block (https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/blocks/columns-block/), and inside of these are image blocks and paragraph blocks. :)

Are you referring to what you’re seeing in the video? Or your site? I can see everything has been deleted thus far.

I refer to the 3 images with a cover in the Homepage from Canape: Hoers d’Oeuvre, Mains, Desserts. How is this type of block called and what are these features called? Please, is there any video or guideline to get exactly this look? Thanks!
Sorry, I deleted Canape theme, since it does not come with everything from the demo (not even the 3 pictures); I also see it is not Full Site Editing, which seems to be the future, right?
Please, is Zoologist the best free theme if I begin today from scratch? Maybe I could build these 3 images with this cool gray hover/text there:) Thank you!

I believe you’re asking about the hover effect on the
Hors d'oeuvre, Mains, Dessertssection of the demo site. Is that right? You’ll see it here: https://canapedemo.wordpress.com/ and I’ve also included a screen shot from the demo site below. You’ll see the hover effect is enabled on the Hors d’oeuvre section.
The site linked in your original post is still set up with the Zoologist theme. You’ll need to enable Canape on that site before these design features can work.
The set up instructions are visible on https://wordpress.com/theme/canape/ and you can also activate this theme on to your site from that link as well.

Now I decided to use Zoologist, since Canape does not allow to use the Beta editor, i.e., full site editing.
So may your Site Beta editor and Blocks allow me to build these 3 pictures up? Or only this Classic theme Canape please?
