“Sorry, that plan is not compatible with this site.” ERROR

I upgraded my website to the business plan. I cancelled my plan and got a refund and went through the prompts to cancel the business plan. I previously has a personal plan. I am currently on a free plan, but I can’t upgrade to a personal plan. I deactivated all business plan plug-ins and made sure there is nothing from the business plan on the site, but it still wont let me change to a personal plan. How do I fix this? I am not sure how to revert the site to the proper version to repurchase the personal account plan

  • Hey there!

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the reason for the downgrade request? Just in case, I can clarify or help with anything.

To get your site back to a Personal plan, we’ll need to revert it to remove the Business plan features first (since we usually have a grace period when a Business plan gets canceled, and don’t revert it until a couple of days later).

Please be aware that if we revert your site, it will be restored to its previous state before any plugins were installed. All plugins, associated content, custom themes, and design modifications will be permanently removed. Your site may not look the same afterwards.

Regular content (posts, pages, media) will be restored, but content created from plugins or custom post types will not be included.

Let us know if you’d like to proceed with the revert.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the heads-up and the detailed explanation. I’m requesting the downgrade mainly to streamline the site and reduce costs—we no longer need the Business-level features.

I understand that reverting will remove all plugins, associated content, custom themes, and design modifications, and that only regular posts/pages/media will remain. Before we proceed, please confirm a few things and help with backups.

    Backups/exports

      • Can you generate (or point me to) a full backup/export of the current site, including database and wp-content, so I have a record of plugin data and theme files before the revert?
      • If you can’t include plugin data, what’s the best way for me to export custom post types and plugin-created content?

      Timing

        • Please schedule the revert at a low-traffic window and confirm the date/time so I can notify visitors.
        • Roughly how long will the site look “off” during the revert?

        What stays vs. what changes

          • My domain, DNS, SSL, and existing redirects will remain untouched—correct?
          • After the revert, which theme will the site use (a default theme), and can you confirm any CSS changes will be removed?

If all of the above looks good, I’m happy to proceed with the revert once the backup/export is secured and the time is set. Thanks!
