    Hi,
I’m using the WordPress app’ on my MacBook and all of a sudden I am getting this message ” Sorry, the customizing tools did not load correctly” Anyone got any ideas as to why it won’t start ?

  • Hi Steve,

Can you please confirm which version of the app you’re using? The most recent version is 2.8.0

I’m able to load the Customizer without problems on my end, so this might be something local. Please completely quit the app, and then reset your modem/router and restart your Mac. Does the Customizer still fail to load?

If possible, also check if it loads if you use a different internet connection, and also please check for me if you’re able to load it if you log into the browser interface.

    Hi,
I’m using the latest 2.8 , did as you suggested and rebooted my Router
and now it seems to work, didn’t know why that is but still it now works for the time being. I hope this all works when I’m away in Peru and don’t get the same issue, cause’ if I do I’m stuck as I’ll be using the Hotel wi-fi.

    Thanks anyway

    Happy days ;-)

  • Just like your browser has a cache, your router and even your computer have their own DNS caches, and sometimes something gets stuck in that cache. Rebooting the router clears its local cache, which is why it’s one of the first things I try if a particular page won’t load for me while the rest of the internet seems fine. (Flushing your computer’s DNS cache is a bit more complicated, but sometimes just switching off wifi connectivity and then switching it back on can do the trick.)

This shouldn’t happen regularly, though, so hopefully you won’t have problems with the hotel wifi :D
