"Sorry, There Was a Problem Following (URL) Please Try Again."

  I’ve had a problem quite a few times with trying to follow blogs from my WordPress reader. I get a notification saying “Sorry, there was a problem following (URL). Please try again.”

  I’ve realized my problem is probably that I exceeded the follow limits, as was another user’s problem in a topic I read through. Is there any way to have the ban lifted? To avoid this in the future, what is the limit for how many blogs I can follow in a certain amount of time and how long will the ban stay there?

  Hi –

  You are correct. Once the threshold for following too many blogs in a set amount of time is reached the following is disabled. This is in place to help prevent spam following habits.

  I’ve reenabled your following again. We won’t be able to lift it again though if you continue to get caught with spam behavior.

  Thank you so much! Is there a limit to how many blogs I can follow in a certain amount of time so I don’t unknowingly act like a spammer again?

  The limit is pretty high. My best advice is to exercise some restraint and only follow blogs that you really intend to keep up with.
