  I’m trying to upload and mp3 file to my woo-commerce page as a downloadable product & I keep getting this message:

  “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons”

  I’ve uploaded this type of file before, with no problems.

  It is within size limits.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Aloha mandalafenesa, It looks like you are working with a self-hosted WordPress.org site instead of the WordPress.com-hosted version supported here.

  Learn more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:

  With that being said, this is a known issue and it should be fixed in WordPress 4.7.2. In the meantime, you could use the Disable Real MIME Check plugin; the plugin should be removed when 4.7.2 is released.

  If you have any other questions about this, I would recommend searching on the WordPress.org support forums for similar issues. If you cannot find anything that works, you can start your own thread. The forums are completely separate from each other, so you will need to register an account there if you haven’t done so already.

  Hi,

  I just updated to 4.7.2 and suddenly cannot upload a pdf file, same error message as mandalafenesa. Has anyone else seen this issue?

  @elboparsons you’ve posted your question in the support forums for sites hosted by WordPressdotcom, but your site appears to be using the standalone WP software.

  Standalone WP and WordPressdotcom are different entities; more information about the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  @justjennifer I apologize for adding confusion. I appreciate you letting me know and I will stick with a more basic response pointing to the .org forums heading forward :)
