Sorry this site is reserved
-
Hi My name is abhishek asthana and I am trying to create a wordpress blog as abhishekasthana.wordpress.com but it is telling me that this site is reserved.
Can you help me out?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. When someone registers a new username the matching URL is automatically reserved for them. In other words, someone must have registered the username, abhishekasthana, and they’re the only person who’ll ever be able to use that address.
I’m afraid there’s no way to get that address unless the user for whom it was reserved registers it themselves and then transfer it to you. But for that to happen you’ll need a way to contact them and staff will not provide you with contact details for that user. In other words, you’ll need to make peace with the fact that you won’t be able to use that address.

Hi @kokkieh
So I registered thejaguarstar.wordpress.com but my wordpress username is my name. When I went to try to register a new username (@thejaguarstar) it said it was unavailable, but not taken.Does that mean it is reserved for me somewhere? And where can I redeem it so I can use it in the forums?

I did. Sorry I just wrote it that way because I’m used to the way Twitter deals with usernames.

Ok, so I guess my question is, do you know how to activate that username so I can use it?

@nicolabeuscher
It works the other way around as well, yes: When you register a URL the matching username is reserved for you. You won’t be able to create a new account with that username, but you should be able to change your existing username to that one, but be aware that doing that will delete your current username and you’ll never be able to register or change to it again. You change your username in your account settings: https://wordpress.com/me/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/If you want to use that blog with a different account, you’ll need to register a different username for your second account and transfer the blog to that account. Then you might be able to change that account’s username to match the URL, but only once that account owns the blog. I don’t think it’s supposed to work that way, but I have done it and it worked for me, so you could try that.

You can’t because it’s reserved. No one else can use.

Hi, I’m Andrene Miller and I started a site but have forgotten/lost details of how to access. I now want to do further work on the site. How can I access it?

@nettypurple
You have already started your own thread here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/finding-a-webpage-i-had-started-to-build?replies=1#post-2397870Please wait for a response to that thread and please do not hijack unrelated threads or try to bump your existing thread by posting to it again. Both practices will actually make is less likely that you’ll get help.

@nicolabeuscher
Just make sure you read all warnings carefully, for as I said, changing a username cannot be reversed and the old username will be gone forever, and the only way to undo a blog transfer is if the new owner transfers it back to you. -

@nettypurple
No problem :)I’ve written you an answer in the other thread. Please ask any further questions there.
It’s okay to post to an existing thread if you have the same problem as the other users who have already posted, but if you have a different problem it’s better to start a new thread. It gives you a better chance of getting the answer you need and ensures the existing thread doesn’t get off topic, which makes it harder to help the users already in that thread.

Thanks everyone for your help!
In case anyone was wondering, I was able to simply change my username to the same as my blog. Yes, I did lose my old username forever, but now it matches my blog so I think that’s better.
