Sorry, website not configured

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hey Guys,

I played around in the settings of my website and added in the URL-setting an ’s‘ to ‚http:/..‘. Since then I get this message everytime I either want to enter the website normally through a browser or if I want to change anything in the admin-dashboard: ‚Sorry, website not configured‘. So now, literally I can not do anything and my website is not reachable. How can I fix this issue, does anybody has an idea? I would really appreciate help!!

    Best,
    Aaron

  • Hi Aaron,

Your site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another host.

Changing the domain on a stand-alone WordPress site like yours has to follow a specific process. You can find the documentation for that process here, though many hosting providers have their own process for this via their hosting control panel.

    https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/

Depending on your setup, you might be able to fix this yourself using those instructions. If not, please contact your hosting provider directly for help.

To have your site load over https, you will first need to install an SSL certificate at your host. So when you contact your hosting provider’s support you can ask them about that as well.
