Sorry, WordPress.com does not support the ie TLD.

Hi there,
I have an issue transferring my domain to WorldPress, after entering the authorization code I get an error message “Sorry, WordPress.com does not support the ie TLD.” Please advise!

Hi there,
The error you’re seeing means that the .ie domain extension (TLD) isn’t currently supported for transfer to WordPress.com. While we do support the registration and transfer of many TLDs, not all domain extensions can be registered or transferred into our system.
You can view the full list of supported TLDs for registration and transfer here:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/
At this time, the .ie domain extension cannot be registered or transferred to WordPress.com. That said, you can still use your .ie domain with your WordPress.com site by keeping it registered with your current provider and connecting it via domain mapping. This involves updating your domain’s nameservers or DNS records to point to WordPress.com.
You can follow this guide to connect your domain:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
I hope this clarifies things!

Hi @denisfoley169c411990b,
I can imagine how confusing that message must have been when you’re just trying to move your domain over.
To clarify, some domain extensions like
.ie, aren’t currently supported for direct transfer to WordPress.com. You can check which domain types we support here: Supported Domain Extensions and Pricing. That said, you can still use your
.iedomain with your WordPress.com site by connecting it instead of transferring it. This lets you keep your domain with your current provider and point it to your WordPress.com site by updating a few DNS settings. Here’s how to do that: Connect an Existing Domain.Let me know if you have any other questions or need help with anything else!
