Sort Gallery by Image Date/Time

  I’d like to sort my gallery by image date/time, as was previously possible with older versions of WordPress. I can no longer find this option. Please help!

  Hi there,

  You can currently order your galleries using the “orderby” shortcode that’s shown on this page:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/#gallery-shortcode

  Right now, you’re using order=”DESC” but that should read orderby=”DESC” to work.

  Hi, thanks for you suggestion! I’ve tried that and it hasn’t solved the problem. Previously, before the media section of WordPress was changed, it was possible to order the gallery automatically using the image date/time embedded into the EXIF information of the files. So, for example, it was possible to have all the most recent photos first, without having to manually reorder the gallery. I can no longer seem to find this option.

  Ah, I believe you’re correct – this isn’t part of the current iteration of the media gallery.

  But it’s really important to us to know what features our users really do want! I’ll let the team know that this should be considered in our future revisions.
