Sort images by date

  Hi, I know that wordpress does not have a feature to sort my pictures by date. After the site upgraded, many of my photos are vertical by default and moving all the way to 2011 or before is a terrible challenge. I see that there are plug-ins available, but I want to know which one(S) do you trust? Thank you!

  Hi! Can you confirm whether you’re referring to the site you’ve shared here?

  I want to say the images are indeed sorted by the date they were added, though earlier dates are shown last. We do have a filter, though, if you know what month you’re looking for. We also have a search if you know the file name or some other text from the image, like its title or description. You can even try adding the date there: some cameras will put dates right in the title or file name.

  We do require a Business Plan for sites that need outside plugins or themes, by the way, mainly because we handle maintenance, security, and support for the sites hosted here, and outside code complicates that significantly. If you’re interested, you can find that here:

  I do think the media library search tools should work well for you, though.

  In the past, I was able to see that filter, but I can’t anymore. Perhaps I should use the previous version.

  It’s in my MEDIA library. (wordpress.com/media…)
  If, as suggested, I start typing a random date such as “July” (if I’m looking something from that date), I don’t get anything actually uploaded in July. There are no other filters (at least visible) to personalize my search.

  Oh yes, that’s intentional. That particular search element only searches titles, descriptions, and captions.

  We do not have a way to filter media in the library by date.

  So basically there is nothing I can do but manually look for an old photo by keep scrolling, despite what Supernova said (“We do have a filter, though, if you know what month you’re looking for.”)

  That is correct, this newer interface does not have the filter yet.

  If you remember the photo’s file name, title, description, or caption, you can search for that.
