Sorting columns by topic

    Hi kind folks!
    I’m having fun with WP, but have been trying to sort the posts on my site into two different columns (basically, 1 for recipes, 1 for stories). I’ve been testing out a few different themes to try and get it, but no luck so far. Do any of you know of a theme/setting that would allow me to choose which column (in any of the multi-columned themes) to place a post in? Whether by categories, tags, or any crazy means, I’d be grateful to hear about it.

    **clarification**
    The reason I want to do this is because I have a whole flood of posts ready to go, but I don’t want them showing up on the homepage (the recipe posts), but want them accessible. I figured putting them in a second column would be nice, but if there’s another alternative, I’m very open to ideas. Thanks,
