    SOS: I activated a new theme and all my info was deleted! Please, any solution? I have 2 sites, but I did not realize I was in the old one ((:

    Thank you! Sorry, I was wrong; it is back. But now I have 2 pages under the same name (Home); are they the same please?

    Also please, when I click my logo on the top left side, a page comes out with a logo and menu: Why I don’t see this page in pages? Sorry, this is confusing to me (I am new). It is livecatholics. Thanks!

    Also please, I use the zoologist theme, with 2 more issues: 1. I see a customized blue page with menus, but they do not come out in my new page HOME. 2. If this theme, for free, does not allow to use the navy blue or black on the background, please any other free theme with this color (and the new full site editing)?

    Hello there,

    It looks like there’s two home pages – and neither of these have been set as the homepage.

    Also, there appears to be 45 pages in trash also, it may be worth checking if anything has been removed by accident.

    Also to note, it looks like we’ve crossed paths in another thread related to theme selection, and I think I can probably help guide you on this. Would you be willing to tell me more about the site you’re looking to build and requirements? I can perhaps make someone suggestions and formulate some steps to help get you up and running. :)

    Thank you! I switched to other themes and came back to Zoologist. Now I know the content is well kept, though with some issues in my current template, which stay despite I changed themes; maybe because I clicked on ‘keep the content’, so it keeps my unfortunate mess when I edited the template(: ? Please, if possible, fix it; sorry. For example, my navigation bar says error in the template!

    Here is my info:

    1.The main GOAL of my website: the whole WORLD will pray together more, online and LIVE 24/7. The most powerful prayers are first the Mass and then the Rosary, though I will add some devotions (Liturgy of Hours, Eucharistic Adoration, Angelus, etc.).

    2.HOW to build this up? A fancy website that invites us to stay, while praying and ‘TRAVELING’ around the world together LIVE. For me the main page of ‘Canape Theme’ is very fancy with these 3 pictures of mains, desserts, etc. I would like to have this setup, so that each of the 3 plates would be a landmark/church to pray (Vatican, Lourdes, Fatima, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in NY, Notre Dame, etc.). Thus, when we would hover the mouse on the picture of Fatima (e.g., ‘Hors d’Oeuvre’ in ‘Canape’), we could read a text with the name of the CHURCH and the SCHEDULE. Maybe it will show 30 RECTANGLES (instead of the 3 in canape), following the schedule order (e.g., 8:00 am, 9:00 am,…10 pm).

    3. Please, Could it have any additional menu to select LANGUAGES? I would like people to select: international (all languages and churches together to select), English (only showing the rectangles of churches/schedules praying in English), Spanish, Italian, French, etc.

    4. Best THEME? I still do not know if Zoologist is the best theme for me, but I learned full site editor is a must have, and it also has many features (though not sure what they are for, sorry (:. I designed the logo with 3 colors, so I would like to combine these 3 colors in my website (navy blue, white, and gold), please, in a free plan.

    I watched your very helpful video on Site Editor vs. Page Editor. But my template looks so ugly, compared to hers (: . I still mess up the templates with the pages/content (:

    So sorry, I am a BEGINNER. Sorry, I will stay in my Free plan; I do not accept any donations either, etc. It is just a hobby hoping for the best and a better world! Thank you so much for your time and patience!

    First of all, it’s totally ok to be a beginner and you don’t need to apologise for that – we’ve all been beginners at some point. :)

    Before we get into fixing anything, the key thing here – is theme selection, as that’s the first step that we need to nail down, and this is a good foundation for future.

    I’d like to translate your requirements into technical terms, and make sure I’m guiding you correctly.

    Ok, so this relates to design. Did you like Canape on the whole, but want to use the site editor to make changes? These themes here: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/full-site-editing/ use full site editing and the block editor.

    I would like to have this setup, so that each of the 3 plates would be a landmark/church to pray (Vatican, Lourdes, Fatima, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in NY, Notre Dame, etc.).     This is theme specific – and would not be possible using the editor. If this is animation is important, then you’d want to use something like Canape. If not, a cover block or showing the information under the image could work.

    3. Please, Could it have any additional menu to select LANGUAGES? 

    This is possible, and this guide here: https://wordpress.com/support/tutorials/simple-multilingual-site-tutorial-using-blocks-no-plugins/ explains how to do this.

    If I may offer advice, I’d recommend first building the original site, before moving on to this part of the project.

    Thank you for your good advice! I agree first I need to select the BEST FREE THEME for my goals. Here it is more info, so that please, may you tell me the best free theme for my website? I do not have the knowledge to do so (:

    1. Good question! VIA VIDEOS. So then maybe Canape with only pictures is not the best choice; also it does not allow using the cool Editor. YES, I want to use FULL SITE EDITING WITH BLOCK EDITOR.
    2. Here it is my preliminary draft: https://girbau7.wixsite.com/catholici/copy-of-live-daily-mass-2. As you can see, there are some embedded links to watch live mass/rosary.
    3. WORDPRESS theme with VIDEOS. Now I just saw your premium theme looks similar to my previous website (though they are recorded videos, not live, and it is not FREE): https://wordpress.com/theme/videomaker/support. Is there any free theme that allows to watch several videos live simultaneously, please? COVER BLOCK sounds also good, but with a live video. Then people could watch simultaneously several rectangles and choose the best for them?
    4. SECOND PAGE.- I would also like to add a map, so that people know where the church is located, and a brief text with a full schedule/description below. Thus, maybe a FIRST page with 30 rectangles including small live videos (which go live when they click on the video)+ schedule & Name of the church below. Then when one clicks to each Name, it leads to a SECOND page with a bigger square including the Live Video (youtube link of the church), a map, and a brief text . I assume I can add the link of the Live Church/channel 24/7.
    5. CATEGORIES instead of MULTILINGUAL? Maybe assigning a Category for Languages to each of the 30 rectangles, so that it filters for English masses only with a search/filter? Otherwise, copy the same page in another page for English only (by deleting the rectangles that are not in English). Then add a SECOND MENU with 3-4 buttons for each language? Not sure if I may need a second menu in the theme or I can just add it in the template.

    Hey there,

    Many thanks for that information, it doesn’t sound like Canape is for you, and something full site is the way to go.

    Based on what you’ve described, I’d perhaps look at these themes more closely:

    The reason being is that it sounds like you’ll be displaying video inside of columns, and this will help to keep things looking organised.

    Because of what you’ve mentioned, I almost wouldn’t get too hung up on theme selection, but focus on the content creation.

    These guides here, explain how to create column blocks, and then to insert video (YouTube) embeds into those:

    SECOND PAGE.- I would also like to add a map, so that people know where the church is located, and a brief text with a full schedule/description below.

    I suspect there’s a block pattern that you can use for this, again, full site editing would be most appropriate here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/block-pattern/

    For any kind of filter, you’d need a paid business plan as this would be powered by a plugin.

    It’s possible to create multiple templates, with their own header in Full Site Editing, this is something you could utilise when creating the sub-pages.

Sorry, I do not understand the whole concept yet: themes, templates, pages…? Where to begin? I have watched several webinars, but I just need to work on the right sequence and step by step. If possible with 2023 theme and free plan (or the best one for my videos and current wordpress version).

    It is not possible to customize theme colors (Global Styles) on free sites, so to do that will require the Premium Plan, which includes advanced customization options including the ability to add CSS code for very targeted changes.

    That said you can customize font and colors on individual blocks (per-page) so it may be possible to do quite a bit fo styling that way to incorporate your brand colors.

    1. So in a free plan, it is better not to waste anytime on edit the templates? I do not understand the templates. Whatever change I made in them, it is not seen in my pages(: I watched a webinar on editing pages vs templates/site, but I can’t do what she does (:. Please, WHAT ARE THE TEMPLATES FOR IN THE FREE PLAN AND WHAT SHOULD I EDIT (if I can’t customized there the colors, fonts, or headers, but only in each page & block)?
    2. Please, as you can see, I already have some videos in one page. Please, instead of a columns block, may I used a gallery block of 30 videos?
    3. How can I have the same pages style in all pages? Can I copy a page to begin creating a new page?

    Please, is the only option on the free plan, to keep duplicating the column with 3 videos, to finally have 30 video channels? Sorry, I can’t delete the white space between the 2 rows of 3 columns: is it possible? Or how may I create a grid with 30 video channels?

    Sorry. I just do not see how to create a kind of upcoming link, when the youtube channel is only live some hours a day.

    So I created the table you may see with some links, which is less appealing than the columns with videos I have above. I also tried the ‘photo gallery’ of each location with the link for each church, but then the pictures were not resized automatically. Please, what would be the nicest way to show the information on the table? Any type of gallery block that may allow me to embed pictures (or name if I do not have the picture) + a link to click on?

    I am looking forward on the new WordPress 6.2! Sorry, I do not know how to handle my theme; thanks for the video!

    Please, in my page Live Mass, the links in the table are blue, but ONLY when I edit them. When I VIEW the public page, they are GREEN. Please, any idea? Thanks!
