Soundcloud url “can’t be found”
-
I’m having trouble inserting a track into my wordpress blog using soundcloud. I’ve followed the directions given both here and on soundcloud but when I do what they say and then click the link, google comes up and says “Oops! Firefox could not find soundcloud url=http:…”
What’s going on here?
I’m trying to embed “Wasted” by Carrie Underwood and this is the page link:
http://learningtoliveagain2.wordpress.com/2010/06/05/wasted/The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You need to double check that URL over at soundcloud. There has to be something wrong with it – unless staff tinkering over the past few days broke the soundcloud shortcode.

I just found that on soundcloud and tried in my test blog, and my experience says that there is something broken at wordpress.
Contact staff directly at http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ .

@tsp: Yes, the WP “share” code is wrong – instead of :// etc. you get the html entities for them.
@29phoenix: Just copy the URL pf the song from the address bar of your browser and use it like that (after you switch your post editor to HTML):
[soundcloud url="URL HERE"]
In your case:
[soundcloud url="http://soundcloud.com/sharpyfamily/carrie-underwood-wasted"]

Thanks Panos, I was going to play with it but hadn’t gotten back to it. I’ve seen this before where the code coming from them is screwed up. I can only assume that they are using something other than UTF-8 character encoding (which is the web standard now).
My last foray into the soundcloud issues took about 2 months for staff to resolve.

Thanks guys for your help. I found out from soundcloud that I should just paste the embed code directly into my post instead of trying to insert/upload it as a link. It works fine now :)

Hey,
I’m having some issues with soundcloud shortcode…
I’ve activated the shortcode plugin, and tried pasting everything but the kitchen sink to my page edit screen…nada.
Here is my url info: [soundcloud url="http://soundcloud.com/david-devasto/half-life"]
Am I missing a step?
BTW: I am using a self-hosted wordpress blog.
I’ve gone back and forth from soundcloud.com to my blog and I am having some trouble figuring it out.
If you figure this out, I’ll tell everyone how awesome you are :-)
