  Does wordpress allow for source files to be saved on a local computer or does it have to be uploaded to the wordpress server?

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  Hi rwversion15, are you hoping to create your own local installation of WordPress? If so, while it’s not something we offer as a managed hosting company, you certainly can do that with the free code.

  If you intend to host a site with us while storing files locally, you could probably only link with “file” URLs. You’d want to be mindful of several caveats on that. Let us know what you have in mind and why the files must be local, and maybe we can make a better recommendation.

  Also, you’ll want to note the difference between our managed hosting and the free WordPress code: https://get.wp.com (or for a longer article, see this). If you’re intending to just work with the free code, I’d recommend using its forums over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ . Hoping that helps!
