space between a gallery and text?
-
Sorry to bother, but I’m new to this and especially to code and I’ve spent many hours trying to put up a page.
I’ve made a gallery of images and inserted it. It went fine. Then under it, I added some line of text announcing links to pdf documents. Again fine.
Now the problem is that the first line of text is immediately under the last images of the gallery almost mixing with the captions. I’m trying to put a two or three lines space and everytime I preview it, it comes back to the same. I tried adding a <p> at the end of the gallery as well as
but to no avail. It’s a bit frustrating, I hope one of you will be able to help me set up my first page as I feel pretty dumb.Oh and by the way, is it normal that in my preview when looking at the images one by one, I can’t seem to be able to read the description that I’ve written and saved?
Peace! Thanks!

Doh! I hadn’t published the page yet because I wanted it to look good.
Anyway, it is online now. However publishing it didn’t changed anything, still no space between my gallery and the following text. And also perplexing is the fact that the pictures have no legends nor descriptions. They are all saved with written descriptions and legends when I look at them in the gallery.

I find this to be an excellent reference on “the gallery” and know your questions will be answered if you read it > http://gammagirl.wordpress.com/2008/07/27/not-the-official-wordpresscom-gallery-faq/

@5jaguar: You’re welcome.
a) See here:
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/06/10/formatting-text-pt-1/
(Switch your editor to html, and use the visibility:hidden code between the gallery and the beginning of the text, or enclose the “Saludos” paragraph in the padding-top code. Change the number in either case to increase the amount of space.)b) Image descriptions aren’t supposed to display in the post: they show up when you click each image, provided you have selected “Attachment Page”, not “Image File”, in the Gallery Settings. To change the existing gallery, click on the frame that represents it (in the visual editor), click the mountain icon, tick the “Attachment Page” option, click “Update gallery settings”, click Update Page. OR (faster), swich the editor to html and change this:
[gallery link="file"]
to this:
[gallery] -
@timethief
Thank you, but believe it or not I had read it twice already. I agree that it is very good, this is how I learned to make my gallery.@panaghiotisadam
Thank you very much. I’ll read it and try it right away. -
