Space Upgrades?
-
I need to get a space upgrade. I was going to get the 5 GB upgrade. What will happen if in a year or two I need more space? Can I buy the 15 GB upgrade then and cancel the 5 GB upgrade without losing a bunch of pictures?
I don’t want to pay $20 for one year and when I upgrade to the $50 space upgrade find out I will have to continue paying the $20 in addition to the $50. I don’t want to buy the 15 GB upgrade now because there is no way I will need all that space within one year.
My blog is about bird nutrition and I usually post pictures of all the daily meals I make for my birds. I like to post four pictures for every meal and I also post lots of pictures of my birds, bird toys, and product reviews. I started my site in the beginning of this year and just now ran out of space in the free 3 GB I was given. Do you think I would end up using more than 5 GB of space in one year?
Sorry for the long post. I just bought my own domain and mapping and am very happy with that. I want to make sure I buy the right/best upgrade for my site.

The problem is less wether to buy an upgrade and more about how to upload smaller image files!
3 GB of space is enough for thousands of photos on your blog! I’ve been blogging for 3 years, have 3100 images in my library and have used only 6% of my free space!
One image of one of your bird toys is 1024px by 768px with 2.25M! That is wasting a lot of space: it could be compress to less than 50kb without loss of clarity.
Use Photoshop or other image editing software to compress your pictures. There are free online programs if you don’t have the software on your computer.
Gimp and Picnik and others:
