Spacing between paragraphs

  I’ve tried searching all forums for this to no avail.
  I’m trying to post an entry to my new wordpress blog, but it’s cramming all the paragraphs together when I preview it — it is impossible to read like this. In my draft copy, I’ve gone through in between paragraphs & tried hitting “enter” to add another space but it isn’t helping.

  If anyone can tell me what I’m doing wrong, I’d appreciate it!

  I should also add that after I published it the first time, I went back in to add another round of spaces between the paragraphs, but it made it worse.

  It’s a messy stopgap but I inserted this between paragraphs in the “text” mode, and it works in preview.

  <span style=”color:#ffffff;”>.

  I’m not publishing til early tomorrow, so we’ll see what it looks like then.

  Hi @louisablog & @lifeof3746!

  Did you by any chance copy and paste your posts from an outside source, like a Word program, a note program, or another web page?

  If so that’s a probably culprit. Copy and pasting can bring over extra formatting code sometimes, which breaks the spacing.

  For example, if you click over to the HTML tab of you post you might see that every paragraph is wrapped in a <div> tag – that will cause the exact problem you’ve described.

  You can remove them by hand, or you can follow these steps:

  1. On the Visual editor, copy the entire post (highlight everything and then right click > Copy)
  2. Delete the contents (make sure they’re copied, so it’s safe)
  3. In your toolbar, click on the Plain Text Mode button – that lets you paste without the extra formatting. There’s an example of that button here.
  4. Paste your content back in, and save your work.

  If you don’t see the button in those images on your toolbar, try clicking the three dots on the right hand side of the toolbar to expand more options.
