spacing in between and above/below the images

hello, how can i ensure the finished Page/Project/Post appear as it appears when im in edit mode? specifically: i am setting even spacing in between images (one both sides and top/bottom) so that there is a nice, clean, gallery effect. but when i go to view the finished/published page – all the images are clustered together unevenly and without spacing. my project “aint no mountain high enough” is one example…

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

The alignment issues will be resolved by displaying the images in a WordPress.com image gallery. If you’d rather not create a standard WP gallery, you could still achieve the goal of an orderly arrangement, but you’ll have to take into account the dimensions (particularly the width) of each image, and the maximum size of the page, post, or project that they are inserted in, for the particular theme activated.

@traceymammolito, the post and page editor are Rich Text editors, not WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) so they will never entirely agree with what is shown on the site itself. It is best to use the Preview button to see what things will look like on the actual site.

@musicdoc1’s suggestion of using an Image Gallery is something you can try out to see if that works for you. You can set the number of columns, image size and whether to have it in a square grid, or a tiled mosaic. With an Image Gallery, you are assured that the images will show in the best way possible and also show well on all sizes of screens/windows.

hello @musicdoc1 and @thesacredpath; thank you both for your advice and suggestions… phew…. the Gallery concept is definitely what i was aiming for (YAY!) – it’s just been an unfortunately long process to back track with the projects i already created and try to quickly turn them into a Gallery effect without basically redoing the whole project and search back in the media library archives (which takes foreva…). I even tried to enter the Coding into the Text editor – which only worked in some cases….

also, it’s too bad one can’t batch select a bunch of images once in the Edit Gallery mode in order to clickNdrag to move around the sort order…………..

oh well, at least end results are great. 15++hours later. ;]

    thanks again!

Sorry for all the extra work, but I’m glad you are happy with the outcome, and you are welcome.

hi again- one last question related to this: do you know why sometimes the coding worked and sometimes it didnt? im wondering why if i’ve already attached all the images i wanted (in the Visual Editor) then how come i cant easily grab ’em and make a gallery out of them?
for example, my portfolio project “In perfect harmony” worked fine with the coding. but when i tried it with portfolio project “sunset blues” it doesnt? here was the code i tried [gallery columns="3" type="square" id="1505"]

Did you upload all those images from within that portfolio, or were they already uploaded in your media library? If they were not already uploaded, then they were not “attached” to that project, so they would not just show up automatically. You would have to add a gallery and then select all the images you wanted in that gallery.

wowsah, creatives can code! hahaha. i think i figured it out. i located the post ID number and the image number and was able to configure the code for setting up a gallery with projects i’ve already created. phew!
    thanks again.
