spam

Quick question about spam. I have something in my spam folder that I am not sure it’s spam. There are no links or anything. When something ends up in spam, does that mean that the writer of the comment never visited the site?
The comment is actually relevant to the topic it’s attached to. But after reading it, it may be a canned response to the topic it was posted to. If the person who wrote it did not visit the post, I’m going to delete it but wanted to first check and make sure that all things that end up in spam are actually there because there was nothing recording a person’s visit by actually filling out the comment box.
Thanks.

There are a number of reasons something could end up as spam. Check the URL that they filled in; is it spammy? Maybe they’ve autoposted that comment a lot of times. Maybe it’s standard “I found this post most useful. wow did not expect to find this on a Monday” text and Akismet recognizes it.

It could still be spam. Sometimes they send out “test posts”. It’s one of those cases where you have to use your judgement.

Thanks. It was spam. I checked the email address on an “email address checker” and it turned out to be a bogus email.
Thanks for your help.
