  somehow my email address is being used across thousands of wordpress sites to register and my main email inbox is flooded with request. how can this be remedied

  What is the email address that these notices are being sent *from*? You can list it here and it will be redacted by the forum software, but staff will still be able to see it.

  well they are using my actual email address which is (email visible only to moderators and staff) to sign up and its a variation of usernames with eastpoint in it so all of the wordpress sites which have literally been thousands in my inbox have send me a thanks for signing up email and its flooded my regular inbox. i marked a lot of them as spam so its a lot going to my spam box now but im getting hundreds of sign ups a hour using my email address.

  Do any of them have “wordpress.com in the sender address? It sounds like you’ve been hit by a bot and you might want to change your email password just to be on the safe side.

  Some users of the standalone WP (org) software have been reporting this issue. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/email-spam If you have a site using the WP (org) software, you might want to ask for advice in the forums at https://wordpress.org/support If you don’t have a username there, you can register one on that page.
