  Hi

  Since creating a wordpress blog, I am now being spammed by web design companies from India that have no doubt been sold my personal information by WordPress. How do I opt out of this so that they do not pass on my contact information to third parties?

  You can “blacklist” them at Settings > Discussion toward the bottom of that page. https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/#comment-blacklist

  This is not in comments on my blog. This is companies directly emailing me.

  I have never had any mail relating to web design business solicitation and the day after I signed up for a wordpress account I have had several people from different organizations I’ve never heard of that have emailed me directly. WordPress must have shared my information.

  All domains require valid contact information, but you can purchase private registration https://en.support.wordpress.com/all-about-domains/#private-registration so it does not display to the public.
