I see a similar thread from you here. You can report any ad which you think is not appropriate here.
At WordPress.com, we sometimes display advertisements on your blog to help pay the bills. This keeps free features free! The ads your viewers will see are determined by their location, browsing histories, and other factors.
See https://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/ to know how to have a “No Ads” WordPress.com site.

Unless you purchase a Personal plan http://wordpress.com/pricing or a higher level Premium or Business Plan there will be ads placed by WordPress.COM on your site.
That said, I am not running an AdBlocker and I do not see ads on your site at https://norwichfringeproject.wordpress.com/
If the ads you see are found at the end of blog posts then provided you see this small About These Ads link what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising. http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/
Any other ads appearing to you are not placed by WordPress.com. You have an issue on your browser or computer. They are being placed there by software on your own computer, unfortunately. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser.
These sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads:

Note that whenever one is asking for Staff help about ads appearing on their site posting screenshots is very helpful. You can use http://snag.gy/ or http://cloudup.com to share screenshots and link to them here. If you use the WordPress.com guide for screenshots http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ you can and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.

Hi nfp1990,
Ads are displayed on WordPress.com sites using the Free plan. However, our paid plans allow your visitors to read your site without seeing any WordPress.com advertising.
Is the content or placement of the ads leading you think they are spam? If you’d like me to take a look, please take a screenshot using these steps:
The screenshot can then be uploaded to your Media Library.
Thanks!

Hi gemmacevans, Akumarjain
Here is a screen shot of my site with the ads on the main page of my site. I understand that there are ads at the end of my blog page, but they should not be appearing on my main page. Here is a recent screen shot https://norwichfringeproject.files.wordpress.com/2017/09/spam-ads.jpg of the problem. This has happened before and was fixed by your team very quickly (see Akumarjain’s comment and links) however I do not know what the solution was to my previous issue so that I can get this issue fixed again as it has reappeared. Your help and assistance would be much appreciated. -
Hi nfp1990,
Thanks for the screenshots, I’ve passed them on to our ads team so they can have a look. I’ll be in touch again when I have an update.

Hi there
The problem is still happening on my site and is on each of the pages. Would you be able to advise me on when the solution will be available thanks. -
Hi nfp1990,
The ads team are still looking into this for you. I’ll send you an update when I’ve heard back from them. Thanks for waiting!
-
Hi again,
The ads are no longer being displayed in the featured image area of your site. Please let me know if they reappear though :)

Hi gemmacevans
Thank you for the update and all looks fine now. For my own understanding, do we know what causes this to happen, so I may be able to avoid it in the future or this a software update related issue. Many thanks. -
You’re very welcome! There were some changes to settings within the Edin theme, so we needed to deploy a new fix to remove ads from that area — nothing you did caused this change to occur.
