spam, and “best political blogs”?
-
Another question from this newbie. Today I had a comment (pingback) in spam, and it was a link to “bestpoliticalblogs.co.uk”. I’m brand new at this, and don’t know if this is good, or truly just spam for some reason.
I’m betting someone here knows.
Thanks.

sounds like spam to me. if you’re not sure, you could check the url out for yourself and see.

It is indeed spam – a scraper site, though not as bad as many. It’s entirely automated and devoid of any real content.

I used to wonder about some pingbacks. Finally I disabled the feature. To do this, go go Dashboard, Settings, Discussion, then un-check “Allow link notifications from other blogs.” I have no idea whether I’m missing out on something or not, but life is easier now. If anyone knows of some genuine advantage to allowing pingbacks, I’d like to know about it.

Sometimes people can steal your posts. At least when you have pingbacks you’ll know about spam blogs stealing your posts, and you can report them.

Thank you all. I did check out the url, and couldn’t tell much from that, other than they post lots of blogs under lots of different topics. And, interestingly, it seems to be a WordPress page. Down at the very bottom it has that statement about the WordPress theme being used.
I will just go ahead and delete it as spam. Thank you again.
