spam and various plans

1. GoDaddy is getting rid of the free blog I got with my website. While I am upset that they are getting rid of a feature they promised me when I bought the website, it might be for the best as their blog hosting was not great. I transferred my content to WordPress, but thousands of spam comments came along for the ride. With GoDaddy, I had to approve comments. I don’t know where all these came from. I have gotten rid of the most recent, but I certainly cannot sort through 5000 more comments. Is there a way to delete those?
2. I would like my blog to look a bit more professional. I see the various upgrades you have, but it confuses me. Can you recommend one that will be a good value? Money is tight. Thank you.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

See here for details of all 3 plans http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/
Note: All upgrades can be purchased separately. As your “money is tight” then I recommend only purchasing a domain name and domain mapping upgrade. You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard and purchase upgrades at > Store > My Upgrades
Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
Your options for payment are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/Note that the free plan and the Premium plan do not allow you to upload your own themes or plugins. WordPress.com blogs cannot be equipped for eCommerce transactions unless they have the Business upgrade. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/ecommerce-is-now-available-on-wordpresscom?replies=1
If you need a site that requires a custom theme or plugins — e.g., if you want to be able to sell things directly from your site, or if you want to install discussion forums — a self-hosted WordPress site might be right for you. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

You can email Staff directly at support@wordpress.com if you wish but it will take much longer to get an answer than posting here on the peer support forums does. If you are going to email for support then post here again to let me know and I’ll remove the tagging for Staff from this thread.

I’ll leave it here for now, but thank you for the direct email in case I need it in the future. You’ve been really helpful!

You’re welcome. For making a free professional theme choice see here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/professional/?sort=free
or http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/professional/?sort=premiumIf those themes do not suit go to http://theme.wordpress.com/ click the big blue Find a Theme button and the features filters for the searchbox will open up.

Hi there!
Regarding your spam issue, it sounds like GoDaddy didn’t really delete the spam comments your site got while it was hosted there. That’s pretty unfortunate. I know it’s a pain to sift through all of that.
Can you try using the “Check for spam” button at the top of your Comments page?

As for setting up a professional-looking site, timethief’s suggestions are all great! With all of our themes, you can set up a static front page and most offer a custom menu.
Let me know if there’s a specific feature you’re looking for and I can help you find something you like!
