Spam bloggers
-
I have yet another spam blogger whom I’ve deleted at least 25 times. I tried to resolve this issue by utilizing their live support and got this message from my corporate antivirus:
Website Blocked: hotspotsoci.com
Website Category: Placeholders
Website Threat Risk Level: 6
When I ran the URL through scam adviser, it responded with this:
*Several high risk sites are related to this domain name
I’m reluctant to use the form on their page, since they’d have my email address. I have had other blogs that I’ve reported and I realize all of the issues. Anyone can follow me, ignore them, WordPress can’t block them. You’ve helped me with these types of spam bloggers in the past and I’m hoping that you can once again.
The blog in question is: https://menshealthissues.ga
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi –
Are you running the Akismet plugin for spam control?
The site doesn’t actually use the managed hosting environment that we support here, which is WordPress.com. It’s running on the open source, WordPress.org software instead.
More help can come from https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

I have the askimet spam control enabled, and it’s caught 90 spam comments over the time that I’ve been blogging. However, it doesn’t do anything for preventing blogs like this to follow me. The issue is, this blogger has what I consider to be objectionable material, quite misogynistic. Considering that the majority of my readers are female, I certainly don’t want to be a vector for this type of material. I understand that WP doesn’t have the capability of preventing blog follows, but since this blog tries to funnel visitors to 3rd party sites, which appear to be high risk for malware, I was thinking that there may be TOS violations might be in place.

Please report the site via either https://en.support.wordpress.com/report-blogs/ or https://en.wordpress.com/abuse/
Thank you!

I tried using the abuse link, but since it’s not hosted on wordpress, I can’t do it that way. My corporate security software now intercepts https://menshealthissues.ga/ as a potential threat and I can’t get past that. I’m curious as to how they’re following me if they’re not a wordpress user. I can’t even get to their Gravatar and report abuse there.

Ah, ok.
So, that is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, which we really can’t help with here.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Your best bet would be to report it to the site’s hosting provider. https://www.whoishostingthis.com/ can help with that.
