Spam called Cupid

This thing keeps tagging me. But they aren’t real. I want this Spam to go away. Please make it stop. I don’t want to buy a fake domain. I have a simple blog. Thanks for any help.

Hi 95% ghost, thanks for your reply. They aren’t commenting. They are tagging my posts slowly bit by bit like a lurker and when I went to see their “site” they are selling a fake domain with 2000 built in followers. I consider this spam and offensive. I researched further about the spam and bots on wordpress and it’s a problem. Many of them aren’t blogging at all and they set themselves up with names like DYI Tools and Home Decor but they have NO blogs. They are lurkers waiting to screw over peoples emails if they can get them. WordPress needs to have a way to block all people that are wanted not just from commenting, but from sticking their tags onto our sites. I know you are going to say there is nothing I can do. I’ve already been told by other bloggers that there is no recourse. I think I will stop blogging. It’s not worth it, when it’s just grifters and spam bots. The link I left you on my first comment: [redacted because we don’t want to help spammers; left in staff notes] is just one of the problems I am having with wordpress. I have been trolled by a blogger who will not listen to me when I request they leave me and my other blogger friends alone. This has been a ROTTEN experience. WordPress allows transgressions. My blog is currently in private mode until I can decide what to do. Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi @roofgardenkincaid, I redacted the spammer link since we really don’t want to help them spread their links, but I’ve noted it for staff.

I’m not sure what you mean when you say they are tagging your posts. Do you mean they’re sending Pingbacks by linking to your posts? Or is something else happening?
Also, where are you seeing the notification that they have tagged you? Please send as much context as possible. Thanks!

Hi Supernovia. Thanks for helping me out. Tagging means to “like” a post and leave ones gravartar on blogs. Normally this should be fine, but when so many “likes” are in fact a spam bot (because they never actually blog or they make a few posts to look like they are blogging but their content is of no substance) WordPress is not working. WordPress has a tool that says it “blocks” people but what it blocks is me from seeing them. They can all still troll see me and troll me. What if I had a stalker I didn’t want to be able to do that? Am I supposed to go into private mode and the bullies, stalkers, trolls and spammers win? Twitter has an actual was to block them from seeing me or abusing me. WordPress is behind the times. Can you please tell your staff and techs to consider solving this huge problem with wordpress? Thanks again for your time. I hope I’m being clear.

We seem to be missing one piece of information: the username of the person liking your posts. Without that, there’s not much we can do here.

ೋღஜஇ is liking my posts but it is trolling my friend after going off on an angry tirade. There are about 20 of us who want them to stop tagging/ liking our posts so that my friend doesn’t have to be passive aggressively harrassed. At least three of us have asked it to stop. It ignores our requests. Do we all have to come here individually to the support forumn make SoundEagle leave us alone? -
By the way, Thanks for trying to help Heroponriki… If there is more than one person I want to stop tagging/ liking me do you want my list of them? Honestly, there needs to be a better way to do this you guys. This process makes no sense and takes too much time for us all. Please tell your techs to create a real “BLOCK” so this isn’t happening to me or anyone else. Why would anyone want to purchase a blog that sets them up for harassment and with no protections? I don’t want to have to stay in private mode. Thank you again for helping everyone on the staff… I appreciate your replies.

Hi again, Heroponriki and if you meant the original fake person “liking” my posts and trying to sell me a domain, Supernovia redacted that link. The user name was David Jadore and the “site”bridge” they are selling is Cupid Lovers. It says to keep these conversations positive and not talk about others, but you are asking me for names… so not sure if this is a good way to handle this. Would it not better to simply create a way for me to “Block” them so I don’t have to wait for you to figure out what I mean and then talk to three different techs to still maybe never solve this problem?

Those are both sites rather than usernames. If someone is spamming you, can you share the username? Mine is supernovia, yours is roofgardenkincaid — usually they won’t have dots.

That’s what shows up in my notifications, Supernovia. David Jadore [spam link redacted] is the username. cupidlovers.com is the site they want to sell me. I gave you the link that you redacted. How about you guys give me a way to block these things directly? How many days in a row are we going to do this? And this is what shows up in my notifications: for the other thing I want blocked: SoundEagle
ೋღஜஇ How am I supposed to know their “Usernames” if those aren’t showing up? I’m giving you what is showing up… in my notifications. Go to their sites. Look at them. Make them go away.

That is the spam.
Make it go away. Or give me a way to block them. Or are you not able to help me?

Also Supernovia…you wrote, “Usually they will have no dots” ???? I did not write any dots. I wrote a period at the end of my sentence. You may stop giving me the run around. I can see this is of NO use. You allow spam and trolls on wordpress and real bloggers are the victims and at the mercy of the outside world. There is no reason to buy a blog from you.

I think you might have us wrong here, as we are actually trying to help, but were having trouble understanding the issue at first. This is why we’ve been continuing to ask clarifying questions so we can investigate.
In this case, you did provide great info to us in your most recent replies, and we were able to locate that account and report it to our terms of service team so they can take a closer look and act accordingly.
Hope that helps, and I also hope you’ll give us a second chance here since we don’t actually like spammers and trolls, and we do actively investigate these as we find them. Thanks.
