Spam Comments

  Hi, Some of my comments keep getting marked as spam but they are not. Is there a way to change the spam settings to be more lenient?

  Hi there,

  If the website you’re referring to is hosted on WordPress.com, Akismet has been implemented on all WordPress.com sites to prevent spam comments.

  Please contact Akismet support if you notice that your comments are incorrectly marked as spam.

  @amiteshg93 the Akismet support link is fine for folks who have self-hosted WordPress sites with other providers, but for site owners here on WordPress.com we like to look at those in-house, thanks

  On 6/22/2022 all comments from registered logged in users on this private account went to spam. After we took them out of spam, they went into the pending file and approved. After that all the comments started to appear without going into spam as they did before. We also found a couple comments in there from November 16th and 18th 2021 that we deleted.

  @gttdgs, are you the same person as @fostermaker? Or are you just the reader whose comments are getting flagged as spam?

  I don’t see any comments from you on the site at http://f4lkennelenrichment.wordpress.com/ on 22 June.

  I only see one comment total on that site that was left on 22 June, and two more on 23 June. I can see those three were spammed, though there’s no way to tell exactly why. Marking those as not-spam is the right thing to do – that trains the spam filters to not flag similar comments, and is really the only way to “adjust” spam settings.

  If comments by a particular account keep getting flagged as spam, the owner of that account should contact Akismet support at the link @amiteshg93 provided above, and select the option, I think Akismet is catching my comments by mistake. Then the Akismet team can check if the account might have been mistakenly flagged by their system.
