Spam Comments Getting Past Akismet
-
Hi,
During the last two weeks, many dozens of spam comments are getting past Akismet (e.g., 42 when I logged-in today).
They are marked spam in my comments inbox and then I manually delete them.
The only known changes I’ve made are a new blog title (same URL though) and updating the “signature” used at the end of each blog post.
Is there something I should be doing?
Thanks very much and Have a great day.

Hi there, could you clarify whether the spam is already being marked by Akismet when you go and look at your comments, or whether you’re marking them as spam manually? I don’t see any spam in your dashboard at the moment, so I’m not able to examine any myself. Akismet doesn’t prevent spam from being submitted in the first place, but it should detect the majority of spam and mark it as such automatically.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the reply.
The comments are marked as spam and are in the spam comments folder. I then manually delete them.
While there have always been a small number of these marked spam comments, recently the number has dramatically increased (e.g., 42 the other day) and that’s why I was wondering if there was a reason – and if there is something I should be doing.
Thanks and Regards.

Thanks for clarifying. As long as Akismet is detecting these comments and marking them as spam, there isn’t anything more you need to do. Spam often comes in waves, so you may see more of it at certain times than others.
Hope this helps!
