Spam comments leaking through Akismet

  Over the last few days, I’ve had a flurry of very obvious spam comments leak through Akismet’s detection system. I’ve been marking them all as Spam, but it’s starting to get really annoying. I much prefer letting Akismet do all the work.

  I tried searching around to see if Akismet was experiencing an influx of spam or a new barrage of comments that they weren’t able to filter, but have found no such records.

  Has anyone else had any issues with this on their own wordpress blogs? I have three others that I haven’t had any problems with… just this particular one.

  Do you moderate all comments? If not then I recommend that you do so.Then then simply mark the spam comments as spam and know that doing this repeatedly will result in Akismet learning how to discern them in the future.

  RATS! I should have clicked your username first. That site linked to your wordpress.COM username is not a wordpress.COM blog. If you are referring to a blog that is not a free blog from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM then you are posting to the wrong support. Forum. Please read the sticky post at the head of this forum so your are clear about which forum to post to as wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG run on different software and are completely separate sites. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1

  All comments are moderated, and I have been marking them as Spam. And yes, the iheartartpdx.com website is a wordpress.COM account (we pay for domain mapping). So I am in the right place.

  The spammers are continually adjusting how they work and changing things to get around spam filters, so when they change tactics, some stuff can slip through, but the spam filters (with our help) quickly adjust. Just make sure and mark them as spam rather than just deleting them and the spam filters will catch up.
