Spam comments slipping through

  I have beed getting emails form WP, asking me to approve what are obvoisly Spam comments. For example:

  ” dkaehatizp commented on Music.

  in response to lifecameos:

  the air travellers are now reaching us at the other end of the world. We currently have about 30 confirmed cases of Covid19, all recent arrivals, or their children or partners. Only NZ citizens and residents are now allowed into NZ.

  Muchas gracias. ?Como puedo iniciar sesion?”

  That last line is a frequent Spam comment!

  This has not happened before and I’ve been blogging since 2015.

  Just mark them in your site as spam so the system can learn.

  Maybe I didn’t make myself clear, they are already in the spam queue. So why am I getting emails?

  I see you have confirmed that these are getting placed into your spam folder automatically, which is a good sign that these are getting filtered out as expected. However, you also mentioned in your post title that you have spam “slipping through” somehow and I’m not sure I understood what you meant by that, can you clarify?

  I should also mention that it’s not possible for a visitor to your site to guess your email address (we hold this info as private) so I’m not understanding your comment about getting emails. Can you tell us a little more about that as well?

  The emails I am talking about are being sent by WordPress.com. They are the usual mails one gets when a new comment is made on the blog, but in the cases that concern me, they are about comments that are already in the spam queue. In my experience, this does not usually happen.

  I have reviewed the mails and those received this week were all about comments on the same post. The others may well have been, but I have been deleting these mails for a while before I troubled to report them.
