Spam comments still getting through
-
I wonder if someone can help me, as I am starting to pull out what little hair I have had on my head.
My understanding is that Askimet was to stop spam messages, yet I am continuously having problems with spam messages get through. Am I the only one that is getting this problem?
Secondly, I have noticed a regular IP address that is continuing to spam my blog, so how can I get these auto-deleted/blocked so I don’t have to deal with them? The Settings/Discussions route only puts them into Spam, which is where they currently are. I know WordPress doesn’t allow blocking of IP addresses, but surely something can be done to this spammer.
Is there a way that I can report spammers to Askimet so they can prevent these spammers getting through? Is there anyway that I can just not have to deal with spam messages without ignoring them (I can’t leave them)?
Thanks in advance

Under a new comment there is a bar that you can mouse over and click on Spam (and Trash too) as option.
It is my understanding that Akismet “learns” what is probable Spam overtime.
Usually if you click “Spam” for spam that gets through, Akismet will eventually know it is spam after a short while, and possibly similar attempts at it.
in short: keep sending the the stuff to the “Spam” filter and it should take care of itself.

I had my comments on moderation so none get posted without my permission.
The only option is to delete, which is getting a little frustrating, when all you are seeing is the same IP address (not all the time).
Surely we could have a report option, cause at the moment I am kinda feeling nothing is getting done and that Askimet is pants

Declaring a comment as “Spam” by clicking on the “Spam” choice under a comment is the report to Akismet, when you just send a comment to Trash you never tell Akismet that the comment is bad. Akismet looks at something like 500 comments a second. Also now many Spammers are using live people to leave comments which make it a bit harder to catch, and I have also seen some AI programs pick out parts of a Post and Site Title to put into the comments as a way of trying to fool you. I find that Akismet does a great job on my site.

There is a comment Blacklist we can use but do note that the person in question can get a new IP quite easily. Comment Blacklist is very similar to the Comment Moderation list, but when something matches here, the comment is marked as spam instead of held for moderation. Please see here. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/#comment-blacklist
