Spam count increases, but no spam comments in the queue

Akismet is supposed to keep the spam for a few days before deleting. But recently I see that the spam count is increasing, but i don’t see any spam in the spam queue.
Why is this happening? Does akismet delete the spam automatically? -
It’s because Akismet recognized as spam deleted it for you
usaully if it’s in your queue the there’s a possibility
of two things it’s a legit comment or Akismet is learning it’s
spam because it time for Akismet to learn. -

Staff have also said that sometimes the apparent, reported count is wrong because it is too high. It does not mean you’re missing spams, those were just phantoms that never did exist in the first place.
