spam counter is going up, but there is nothing new in spam-folder

about one week ago I had only 33 comments identified as a spam since august 2007 (the time I’ve set my blog up)… until now, every “spam-comment” was moved to the “spam-folder” (I mean: “Comments”->”Aksimet Spam” in my wp-admin) – so I could make “de-spam” if one shouldn’t be classified as spam… but right now, the spam counter shows 58, but nothing new have appeared in spam-folder since last week, so I cannot say whether it was really a spam, or if not – de-spam it… as well during last week my sister told me, that she had left a comment on my blog, but I cannot find it anywhere – it isn’t on my blog and it isn’t in the “spam-folder” – so I think something is wrong with my blog – can anyone help me?

There a quite a few threads on this issue and there never really has been a “complete” answer on this. Sometimes the spam shows up in the folder after the “counter” has already increased. I am not sure if blatant “known” spammers are already blocked and that is why the counter goes up? Just some additional thoughts to think about, but maybe search for the other threads and see if there is something there I am missing.

I posted a little bit I’ve found out about what you will experience with Akismet in the following thread and since no one from Staff has said I’m all wet, I believe it to be reasonably accurate.

thanks for the answer… from the link I can see, that my case is simmilar, and nothng can be done unfortunately… my spam-counter is still increasing without showing what do he caught
