Spam email registration

    Hi. I just received and email asking me to confirm my email address from a sender that is: (email visible only to moderators and staff).

    Please confirm this is a legitimate website AND that my email address (email visible only to moderators and staff) wasn’t used to purchase anything on WordPress or that site. :(

    I’m being spam bombed :(

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    Hi there,

    Is the site balestrero.com familiar to you at all? To clarify, that site is not hosted with us here at WordPress.com, but is a site hosted at Register.it and using the free open-source version of the WordPress software.

    It is a WordPress site, but because it is not on WordPress.com we do not have the ability to take a closer look.

    Please confirm this is a legitimate website AND that my email address … wasn’t used to purchase anything on WordPress or that site. :(

    If you are not familiar with balestrero.com, we recommend that you ignore that email asking you to confirm your address. By itself that kind of message is not necessarily spam (all sites have an internal email system that powers notifications and followups) especially if you do not act on it in any way. But if you don’t recognize the site then I would definitely not act on the email, and delete it instead.
