Hi. This morning I had a number of SPAM emails from wordpress sites asking me to follow their blogs. I have never had this happen before and I have not given permission for my email to be provided to other blogs so they can harass me. The emails are from:
‘Takeninhand’s Blog’ <(email visible only to moderators and staff)>

The blog pages all have the same email above, however the actual blog names are different; http://babysubracko.wordpress.com/; http://takeninhand.wordpress.com/, etc.

Can you please let me know how this can be stopped. It is not acceptable.

    I await your reply.

    Tracy Melia

Are you referring to outlook.com followers?

If the answer is yes then post into this thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/redux-bogus-followers-with-outlook-email-accounts?replies=9

No idea what you mean by outlook.com followers. I am receiving emails from various blogs asking me to follow their pages. An example of the exact working is below (copy and past of the email I received):

“You’ve been invited to follow adventures in babyland!

ssubracko has invited you to follow adventures in babyland.

You can accept the invitation by clicking below:

    Hi tracysdaftcells –

What you’ve described here is the situation where someone has added your email address and invited you to follow their blog. You can simply ignore/delete if you are not interested.

lizkarkoski-Where did/how did they get our email addresses?

I have the same issue as tracydaftcells. The email read”This message was sent by a WordPress.com user who entered your email address or username to invite you” it was sent by a email address of (email visible only to moderators and staff).

    thank you

Hello there, Staff will revert when they return to this thread, but if you leave a comment on a WordPressdotcom site, you’ve shared your email address with the site owner.

If you reply to a comment by email, then your email address is visible to that sender.

If you’ve posted your email address on your site, then it is publicly available.

Your username is public in the forums.

Unfortunately, it appears as though some people abuse this. However, as staff-zinnia said while these invites may be annoying, you can simply ignore or delete them.

If you wish to block all notifications from WordPressdotcom, you can follow this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-deactivation/#unsubscribe-from-email-notifications however that may be a bit extreme. You might also consider filtering your emails in your email program to direct such invites to the trash folder.

Let us know if you have any other questions about this.

    Hi – I am back..

Personally, I think the best option here is what justjennifer mentioned about using your email filters.
