spam error

  I have 300+ obvious spam in my comment section. When I try to mark them as spam or trash them, it returns an error ‘We couldn’t mark this comment as spam’ but gives no reason. It won’t let me trash them either.

  Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com but instead a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.

  We cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. But, I can get you pointed in the right direction.

  Are you using any plugins that fight spam? Spam tools aren’t built into WordPress, so you need to add that functionality to your site.

  The best option there would be to use Akismet. If you use that plugin and still have trouble, their support team will be able to help look into your issue.
