    is there a way to turn off the spam filter? I want to install a captcha instead.

    Hi Daniel,

    It wouldn’t be possible to turn off the spam filter for WordPress.com sites. Is there a reason why you would like to have spam filter through? If legitimate comments are ending up in your spam filter please unmark it as spam. Akismet learns from what you mark as spam and unmark. It may take a couple days, but Akismet will learn and automatically place comments in the correct filter. If you are doing this and legitimate comments are still ending up in your Spam, please contact Akismet directly through here:

    As for captcha, that also wouldn’t be allowed on WordPress.com. I wouldn’t recommend putting captcha even if it were allowed because it’s very difficult for the visually impaired to comment and can discourage people from commenting. In addition, spammers can easily get around a captcha as people are hired to spam.
