Spam follower

  Hi. A while ago I asked for help on a persistent spam follower whom I kept removing and who kept re-following my blog. I realise there is no way of permanently blocking a follower, although in the previous case WordPress was able to prevent them from re-following somehow. I have another one – blogger going by the name bomihill (Henry Lake http://duplicatemysuccess.com/). They have a rather obvious spam site – seems to be entirely copied digital marketing bullshit – and clearly have absolutely no interest whatsoever in the subject of my blog (Scottish football). I must have removed their follow at least ten times already and I would like to make it permanent. I appreciate that the fact of their following my site will not make a great deal of difference to me or my site, but I feel that there really ought to be an option for WordPress users to control this type of spamming. If nothing else their persistent re-following when I have removed them so many times is uncivil behaviour. Or else they are using a bot to follow WordPress sites. Either way, I don’t want to reward their unwanted irritation by allowing them to continue following me, so if it is possible to block them permanently I’d be most grateful.

  Regarding your query:
  The team is fully aware of the spam follower issue that is affecting many of our users. They have been discussing the issue with users in this thread:

  It is a tricky problem that they are dealing with internally, but we are hoping to get some resolution to the issue ASAP. I am tagging this thread with “modlook” so that they can confirm on this if I have missed any updates on this issue.

  Till then perhaps you can set up an email filter so you don’t keep getting notifications about these in your email inbox. Hopefully we’ll be able to block these soon.
