Spam in my XML code?

  I just exported my blog as an xml file and when i viewed the page I found a large chunk of the code containing links and content for very inappropriate material.

  How could this happen? AND how can i get rid of this??

  I’ve seen other references in the forums to opening the file in notepad and cleaning it up. But you may want to search first.

  Did you delete your Akismet file first? Maybe you’re looking at the spam file?

  I believe spam comments that haven’t been deleted are still included in your export file. They won’t show up in your new blog.

  I have deleted all spam comments. How is it possible that this virulent material could infiltrate the code of my blog? This material is probably being indexed by search engines?
