spam issue
-
Just in the last two weeks, I have been receiving a huge amount of “spam comments.” Just in the last 5 days, I received 214. I have had my wordpress blog for a long time and this is the first time it has happened. Can you help me? Thanks! ~ Andrea

Some of us get over 200 spams every day. If all the spam comments are directed at a single post than that could be because you approved a spam comment. Spam attracts spam and human spmmers wiat to see if they suck you in. If they do then they and other spammers hammer your blog.
On your latest post I see approved spam – mark all of these as spam

Kraig VahenaI don’t have time to check you other “comments” but all of those are spam. You can learn how to spot spam. Any comment that does not refer to the content in your post is most likely spam.

@willeysher-Every WordPress.com site is supported by Akismet comment spam filters, which automatically filters and holds all spam comments for review. http://en.support.wordpress.com/unwanted-comments/

Okay so I guess I must have accidentally approved a spam comment on one entry on my blog because exactly what you said above is happening. My question is, is there a way to stop it?
-
@ennaeilsel27-If you’ve accidentally marked a spam comment as legitimate, head to the Comments dashboard and mark it as spam.
See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/manage-comments/ specifically comment actions.

@justjennifer I marked it as spam and deleted it a couple of weeks ago, but ever since then I’ve been bombarded with spam in that one post. Is there anything else I can do?
-
No aside from marking any spam that slips by Akismet as apam there’s nothing more you can do.
