Spam issue

  I keep getting spam via the Comments box. I can manually mark them as spam but feels like I could do with a better method.

  I get similar from the contact form of my other domain.

  No real messages, just spam.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi storymaker3! Sorry to hear spam is cluttering up your blog.

  Since your site is on WordPress.com, you have Akismet built right in, which is a great spam fighter. You might improve the behavior significantly:

  • Check Akismet Settings: Go to Jetpack → Akismet Anti-Spam in your dashboard. You can check the box to ‘Discard the worst and most pervasive spam so I never see it.’ This saves you from even having to see it in your spam folder. For further information you can check the dedicated support page at https://akismet.com/support/getting-started/activate/

  • For your Contact Form: If you’re using the Jetpack/WordPress.com contact form, Akismet should be filtering those entries automatically. If you’re hosting your own blog, you would need to install the plugin and enable it with an API key.

  Also keep marking spam comments as spam so the anti-spamfilter can learn from it.
