spam-like pop up
-
Hi, I am having trouble with my free wordpress blog and several people have told me they cannot access the blog post as a spam-like pop up comes onto their screen which they can’t come out of. Is this something on my end? Have I been hacked or do I have a virus? Or is the problem on their platform?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The link specifically is https://startingstitch.wordpress.com/2017/06/02/what-does-sewing-mean-to-you/
I have a photo of the pop-ups but I am not sure how I can add them to this post? -
Hi naomialice90,
I have a photo of the pop-ups but I am not sure how I can add them to this post?
A screenshot of the pop-ups would be really useful, thank you. Please upload it to Snaggy or Cloudup and paste a link to the screenshot here so I can take a closer look.
I’ve visited your site on both my laptop and phone but I couldn’t see any pop-ups. I’ll ask our advertising team to check your site though.

Do you know which browser and device they were using when they saw the pop-ups?

Hi @gemmacevans,
I’m having the exact same problem with my site. (patrickrharrison.wordpress.com)
It seems to be affecting iphone users on the Safari app.

Gemma, I can’t get onto either of those sites at the moment as I am away. They were both accessing it on an ipad. I have since had someone else tell me they are having the same pop ups. Mine is similar to the photo Patrickrharrison posted

Gemmacevans thanks for looking into this.
Here is another pop up that a friend received while clicking my url from instagram. https://imgur.com/gallery/iWpeE
Hope this helps!

Hi folks,
Have either of you seen or had reports of pop-up ads within the last few hours?
-
Hi Gemma, yes people are still encountering it. What is causing it? Is the fault on my blog or on their devices?

Hi naomialice90,
Can you confirm whether they were seen before or after Tuesday 20th June? We’ve disabled most ads for iOS devices while we track down where the pop-ups are coming from.

Hi naomialice90 and patrickrharrison,
I just wanted drop in and give you an update. Our ads team have identified where the ads were coming from. A few advertisers submitted pop-up ads without our knowledge — they were then disabled as soon as we identified the source.
Thank you for your patience while we looked into this!
