Spam 'likes' on comments

    Hi folks,

I think that the ‘spam team’ harrassing comments in april has found a way around Akismet… I saw 22 spam likes in my spam folder and removed them definitely – but there are some that remain on my site but don’t show anywhere else – here we go again…

Only on one site I follow the problem is present as well up to now – will have to check the others as well…

Looking for the old posts here from april, I also saw that quite a bunch of people think their site has been hacked… a recent item from today. Any connection? Same people?

I have made a screen print of the ones that appeared in my mail as notifications but can’t figure out how to add it to this post.

I am turning off the comment ‘likes’ for the time being and will change my password too – just in case.

    Happy hunting? ;-)
    Grts

“I saw 22 spam likes in my spam folder” means Akismet is doing its job well because it marked those emails as spam. If you find a spam comment outside of your spam folder, don’t delete it but mark it as spam. Doing so Akismet can learn.

Got the same problem and can’t remember what I did last time this happened a few months ago.

I’ve added those who’ve left comments to the comments blacklist and I’ve noticed that as well as email addresses and website addresses that are IP addresses as well this time, hope this helps.

I wish we could blacklist likers like we can commenters. I keep receiving spammy likes from sites ending .xyz on my comments on my own blog and other blogs I follow. Then I also get 20 spam comments with the same text. Those don’t even get published because they go to the spam folder, but the spam likes just hang around forever and ever on my carefully crafted posts.

On May 30 I posted a comment regarding the spam likes – all with the same word: ‘what’, posted at the same time on the same date to comments made from readers on my posts. It has now progressed to comments I have made on sites getting likes. Soon they’ll start spamming my blog, making it impossible to carry on. WordPress, you’re under enormous pressure here and it has been going on for some time. Some solution has to be found or else you’ll lose subscribers. Holding thumbs this can be sorted out!! Blog is: pviljoen.wordpress.com. The new batch of likes to my comments concerns the blog nanmykel.com

    Hurry up please!!

For instance, there are 22 spam comments right now, all posted on the 17th June, all at 5.09am, all from sites looking similar to this one: http://WWW.ХХХ.QСQZРJ.ХУZ

I want to report problems with possible bogus blogs that are filling up ‘likes’

    June19 id7555223.sexyxkg.website

    June18 Id6621639.afsx.xyz unofficialpesutd.wordpress.com

    June18 Id5517040.sexylceq.website

How are these sites allowed to be created? They are a nuisance by filling up the cue at our Notifications at our sites.

    @staartmees

Really don’t want to sound mean, but what you say does not really make sense to me.

Akismet did catch everything since april up until now.
The spams I deleted in the spam folder are not the ones that are appearing as ‘likes’ to comments. I cannot do anything with the new generation. They don’t show up anywhere else but in the comments of the posts themselves. And as much as I’d gladly show Akismet the way to catch them, they are totally out of my control as they were the first time over (and heaven knows I was not the only one). In my post of ‘Happy Easter’, the same sort of likes are still sitting there and it seems there is no way to get rid of them. These are of the same family, untouchable… ;-)

By the way, I put the screenshot of the mails I got as likes-notifications into the Media folder as we have done last time. My mail was the only other place I saw something was going wrong there. Please check also the earlier postings here from april – it is not that simple – or I was not clear enough explaining it – I assumed most people would know about april…

    Thanks & grts
    Nil

Wordpress, I just posted and a spam liker found an old post I commented on, that of Howard Johnson, who clicked like on my latest post. The spammers are working fast and furious and I’m beginning to be very worried about what’s going on here!! We may have to start taking the like button off our posts too. Then we’ll have to take off the comment window.

I’ve already set my blogs so that likes do not appear.
But these ‘Likes’ will still come up in my notifications on others blogs that do accept ‘likes’

The latest being from: id6870002.xqtspn.xyz at around 11 am my time.

I’m not touching these folks with a ten foot pole. I’m not going to their sites or Icons and this one had a creepy icon.

Just as there now is a way to remove unwanted followers there should be a way to delete unwanted ‘Likes’ and whatever ‘they’ link too.

These guys are not being caught in my spam or trash, because when I set up a new site – partly because of the ‘old’ original spam problem – I set my new blog so that I have to approve every comment. And they will not get approved.

I’ve also recently put two other sites I have on a ‘Private’ only setting because even though I removed a particular follower… they didn’t get the hint and I had to remove them four times.

Is there a message that one gets when they get ‘rejected’? I should hope not.
I’m not accepting those who have no bearing on my ‘theme’ and don’t bother to try and leave a comment.

As I haven’t seen any more, except for the 4 that I originally saw. Has this new issue been solved. I’ve put two other blogs I have on hold… more or less waiting for notification of results.

I would like to be able to eliminate unwanted ‘likes’ just as I am able to delete unwanted followers. However some of those folk who you do removed don’t seem to take the hint.
I’ve had to remove one person 4 times. WP isn’t letting these folks know that they are being removed are you?
